J.B ON THE SPOT compiled by ANDREW WESTBURY (ELDICA RECORDS, DALSTON) November 09 Andrew is the biggest James Brown nut I know so I wasn't the least bit surprised when he handed me over this mix. This is definitely not the typical, run of the mill James Brown comp with the same ol' tracks but instead includes some of his earliest, rarest and unreleased cuts. Very refreshing... simply because I haven't heard most of this before. Visit Andrews record store (Eldica Records) for your fill.

TIME FOR PEACE compiled by OTIS SOMMERVILLE MARCHBANK (08) I'm a tough guy ... you know, I don't easily get moved, definitely not the sentimental type, but upon hearing this mix I almost cried ... It is possibly one of the most beautiful, aurally stimulating 56 minutes I've had in a long time. Otis sprung this one out of nowhere and I seriously haven't stopped listening to it since... gorgeous.

DETROIT TECHNO - THE CREATION OF TECHNO MUSIC (HIGH TECH SOUL) by Gary Bredow [2006] . . music by Juan Atkins [66 minutes] Carl Craig, Derrick May, Juan Atkins and Kenny Larkin are just a few of the luminaries that appear on this fantastic piece of documented work. It covers all angles regarding the rise of techno music in Detroit and a history behind the music and this iconic, almost mystical city. A definite must see, even if it's for just the soundtrack. *Props to Dobie Campbell for highlighting this one.*

CHUCHO VALDES - INVITACION (QUINTENTO DE JAZZ) - INVITACION (AREITO 1986) Classical pianist turned mad scientist is possibly the most appropriate way of describing Chucho Valdes on this track. Lock in tight for this one - 16 minutes of mayhem. Chucho Valdes - Invitacion(quintento de jazz)

LEAD VAIN (ATOMIC no. 82) compiled by ELMORE JUDD We've been holding on to this one for a while now, just thought we would let you stew in the magnificence of the first Elmore Judd mix - before we unleashed this monster on your unsuspecting ears. It's in the same vein (no pun intended) as the original mix and features some celestial jams from Nigeria, some heavy fuzz rock from Zimbabwe, Congolese rhumba ... we'll let you listen to the rest. Look out for future Elmore Judd releases and Dj sets ... follow us

MR.WONDERFUL - promo mix (early draft) compiled October 2007 at Chesca's old place I found a CD copy of this lying about on the shelves a few days ago. Upon listening to it I couldn't help but cringe in some sections while bumping my head to others. It's a promo CD I did for an event years ago which explains some of the track selections - safety first being the motto ... dated but still pops. The version uploaded is the original and is slightly rough around the edges - track listing coming soon
